Parents’ Challenges for their Kids Education

Recently, our team at Warriors was used by God to lead one our parents at Warriors Christian Academy to Jesus Christ. That is a BIG deal to see a life changed! There were tears of joy shed from all. And the fruit of joy, peace, happiness and love which came from that experience is affecting her whole family. We also have watched same sex attracted, rebellious teens, turn away from that passion and trust God for His perfect plan for them in matters of intimate relationships and marriage. How does this happen? By making the choice to immerse a child in a Christian CULTURE!

Warriors Academy / Warriors Christian academy is a Christian owned, Christ centered K-12 academic school as well as a mixed martial arts academy. Our entire culture is Christian based with a Biblical worldview. We have had many children that attend WCA make the decision to invite Jesus into their heart and follow God this past year. One of these young ladies (age 10) began asking for prayer before meals and at bedtime in a home that did not have Christian parents. This really shocked mom who had noticed a positive change in her daughter’s behavior. Mom decided to come to one of our morning chapel services to see what her children were hearing and seeing. After hearing the lesson that morning the Holy Spirit went to work on her, convicting and tugging at her. The next morning she came back for Chapel Service again, and at the end prayed with us, accepting Christ on the spot. One of her concerns, which we prayed for, was that her husband would also come to know Jesus. We prayed earnestly that God would pull the husband to Him. Our team broke for 4th of July vacation. When we came back 10 days later, we found out that at the exact same time we were praying for the husband, he had been called to a job to work on an AC unit. While there, one of the ladies began sharing Jesus with him. Coincidentally (or we prefer miraculously), this lady was the wife of the pastor that was praying at WCA WITH THE WIFE at that very moment!! God ALWAYS hears our prayers. The family has now attended church several times and it is transforming the entire family in a positive, God centered way.

Let me contrast this with so many other stories that I hear on a weekly basis from conservative, Christian families. We hear stories of lost children to marxist, communist ideology, the LGBTQ movement, runaways, crime, drugs, acts of sexual perversion, rebellion against authority, stealing, sneaking out, shoplifting, dishonoring their mother / father, and ultimately families that are suffering. What do they all have in common? Public school CULTURE.

There are many, many fine conservative and Christian administrators / teachers that keep their heads down, staying in the public schools to truly help kiddos. But there are many, many more that are part of the LGBTQ, BLM, and ANTIFA movements. These are the public school leaders that parents are making a conscious choice to mold their kids, for 40+ hours a week. Personally, almost every parent of a child that used to train with us in years past that I see in the community recently, share stories of how that child is now struggling with sexual identity or political ideology. Unfortunately these are usually non- Christian families, or ones that claim the title but do not live the Christian lifestyle. It is truly sad and depressing to see what these families are having to struggle with.

Our children are being lost at an alarming rate through the public school system in our area. By lost, I mean exactly that. Kids that either never knew, or have lost faith in Christ. That means no absolute moral compass, and ultimately no salvation, and no Heaven. In a real sense, families are being ripped apart because of the culture that the parents allow their children to be immersed in. We have heard on many occasions from parents that choose to keep their children involved in the public school culture, or worse yet, remove them from a Christian culture to put them back in the public school culture. And why?? So that they can play certain sports, play certain instruments, belong to color guard, or participate in certain clubs. Most of the time, none of these things are even being used to get the kids into college. The parents just want the child to have the “experience”. In addition these are things that can be done after school or on weekends. Parents are being brainwashed by the system or bullied by their children to give up any hope of salvation through Jesus and a God led life, for shiny bobbles that will pass away and leave them empty.

Over 30 plus years I have had the same conversation with parents when their child has wanted to quit something healthy. I had it just the other day when a parent whose high school student is knee deep in transgenderism through LISD, pushed back on coming to our Christian School. Mom and dad have a faith, but decided it wasn’t worth the fight. Huh? Excuse me?? Who is the parent?? If the child wants to be lost and end up in Hell, then they would allow that decision? I asked the mother “if she woke up one day and decided she would quit eating or going to school altogether would you allow that too?” Moms answer was “no, of course not.”. Well then why would you allow this?

For the life of me, I cannot understand how someone can identify as a Christian (or conservative for that matter), then willingly and on purpose sacrifice the most precious gift that God has entrusted to them on the altar of anti-Christ ideology. The parents literally immerse them in an anti-God, sin filled culture ,and hand them over to Satan on a platter. Then the parents act shocked when years later the child is a mess spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically. That may sound harsh and offensive, but I am frustrated and truly mind boggled at this pervasive and Luke warm parental Christian thinking. But love is truth, and truth is offensive sometimes.

These are YOUR KIDS and YOU are responsible for their safety and salvation. Be a good steward of what God has entrusted you with. We, as parents, will be held accountable in front of God, for the job we did with our children someday. That is real. So, when the world, evil, and ultimately Satan comes prowling down your street seeking to devour your children, maybe think twice about willfully feeding them to him. Are you really willing to give up your child’s soul to save a few bucks and a chance for an “extra curricular” sport or activity? I pray not. But that is what we see happening everyday.

There is a better way……Another option is to pray with your children, read the Bible with them, go to Church (one with solid theological doctrine ) as a family, and immerse them in Christian education. We, as Christian parents are actually called to do ALL of those things. If you do, the Holy Spirit will transform your family, your relationships together, and the trajectory of your lives will be changed forever! We at Warriors live that, and understand the challenges in creating an intentional lifestyle that honors God and His word. We are tired of hearing the stories of lost kids. The problem is not with the decisions of the children, but of the parents that refuse to lead and support their children in a Godly way. If you are one of these parents, you have no one to blame for your child’s struggles but yourself. But the good news is that you can literally change that today!

Martial Arts – Integrity and Courage in Today’s Crazy Culture War

What are the martial arts? The martial arts can be defined as martial = militant, and arts = occupations requiring knowledge or skill. In Japanese, there is a difference between Karate-Do and Karate-Jitsu. A “Do” art generally focuses on using the martial arts, not just as a means of self-defense, but also as a means of total personal development physically, mentally, and spiritually. A “Jitsu” art would be one that is more focused on the combative success only. A sampling of “Do” arts you may have heard of would be Judo, Aikido, Karate-Do, etc. Whereas “Jitsu” art examples may be Ju-Jitsu, Aiki-Jitsu. and Karate-Jitsu. Today I will focus on the “Do” art. “Do” (pronounced dough) means “way”. As in the WAY of the Empty Hand, which is Karate-Do.

In our martial arts organization, we practice a “Do” art. This means that we have character development lessons as a part of the curriculum. In today’s world, we have more of a need for values like faith, courage, perseverance, honor, and integrity, than we do fighting skills. The values we use daily. The physical self-defense rarely. But with the way things are going, self-defense definitely is a need on the rise! The values that we teach at Vortex have been in existence from the beginning of time. But times have really changed tremendously since the 1960s. That seems to have been the beginning of a worldwide cultural coup where morality and traditional values have been supplanted by subjective morality. Subjective morality is a morality that can be defined as “do whatever YOU feel like if you think it is right”. As a Christian-owned business that teaches a Biblical worldview and Biblical principles, we find our values at odds with the newfound values of tolerance, diversity, and inclusion. You see, God’s word teaches exclusivity by nature. The Bible is our absolute, OBJECTIVE moral authority. It teaches us that we are to love all but to hate sin. That means that a practicing Christian can be loving, respectful, and inclusive of the individual, but must stand firmly against overt sinful behavior like stealing, murder (abortion), lying, sexual impurity like homosexuality, and other Biblically defined sins.

The challenge is that we as conservatives and Christians try to play fair and nice with folks that wish to force their indoctrination into our lives, onto our children, and into our communities. They expect absolute tolerance and acceptance of their SUBJECTIVE morality while giving zero respect and tolerance to our OBJECTIVE biblically-based morality.

As a father and teacher, I believe it is more important than ever for parents to stand up unapologetically for their faith, if for no other reason than to be an example for their children. There is sin and evil that must not be tolerated all around us. To do that today takes courage, bravery, and integrity, in the face of overwhelming backlash. Online attacks, cancel culture, and physical assaults have risen to epic proportions in the last 15 years. To stand for what is right as a Conservative and Christian puts you’re physical and mental health, your family, and your business in real jeopardy.

Recently we had a lesbian couple enroll their child in our after-school program. They had to fill out and sign documentation that they knew that we taught Christian values and are Christian-owned and operated. They did so, and we accepted their child into our program. A few months in, when they no longer needed services, they paid what was owed and ended their membership. They were treated with the utmost respect during their entire time at Vortex. No sooner did they leave the program, they began bashing us online, causing several one-star reviews on our business, because they disagreed with a blog discussing the indoctrination of our kiddos all over the country into the lgbtq community. They never called to discuss the differences of opinion. They just attacked and caused others of their ilk to do the same. They weren’t civilized enough to respect a difference of opinion. That is ok. We will pray for them and wish them well.

The most important thing we can do in a situation like that is to ignore the keyboard warriors, and take a stand on what is right in the face of an assault. It sets an example for our children and the students. So what about the “old-fashioned” values like faith, honor, perseverance, and courage, that seem to be under such attack today? I say we need them more than ever! Stand up, stand for, and stand against. Set the example for our future generation. It is what we are called to do as parents, teachers, and most of all Christians. Truth is offensive, especially biblical truth. So offend away, then love and pray for those that show no tolerance, love, mercy, diversity, or inclusion for conservatives and Christians.

LGBTQ Movement Becoming an Epidemic in the Martial Arts

As such, we are able to get a snapshot of what is happening is our communities and the families that live their. For years we almost never had any sort of sexuality challenges enter our schools. However, with the insidious brainwashing of our children starting in Kinder, and even before, by dripping this agenda on them through cartoons, we have seen a skyrocketing of middle schoolers and high schoolers really struggling with sexuality. We have watched as one or two confused kids out of a thousand have become 10% – 20% of all kids over the age of 13 in our Academies. The public schools have been infected with this. They get these young kids to join lgbtq clubs in middle school, encourage physical exploration, and by the time they have reached High School they have been brainwashed to believe that if they tell their parents about their lgbtq lifestyle that they may be rejected. So these kiddos live a secret lie and when they shock their parents with the news two or three years into the lifestyle. If the parents do not agree, there is a split in the family. We have even seen kids run away from their own families, since they were turned against them by their friends and lgbtq mentors. If the parents do not support this life, they are labeled bigots, transphobic, or homophobic. This is a terrible ripping apart of the American Conservative family.

On a personal note, we had one of three gender dysphoric children aged 7-12 scream at one of our black belt instructors because he responded to a question she asked with “yes ma’am”. The martial arts culture teaches respect, and one of the ways we teach to is expecting the students and teachers to use Yes sir/ma’am or No sir/ma’am as part of all communication. This episode happened in front of 20 other children in the aforementioned age range. We had at least 10 very upset parents who had to explain to their children after class why she did not want to be a girl, what is a transgender, and why did she yell at our instructor. The parents made it very clear that they did not bring there children to “Karate” to be sexualized. These were discussions that they were not ready to have with their little ones. As a parent, I understood. We had to create a policy that was fair to everyone. Our policy stated that everyone is welcome, but must be referred to by their biological pronoun when at Vortex.

As a Christian owned school, we do not believe in encouraging children to live a fantasy. That is child abuse in our estimation. The other problem is, if we buy into this fantasy and support it, why not identify as a flower, dog, or 1969 Mustang. Where does it all end? With the addition of Paedophilia being forced into society by the lgbtq+ group, this disgusting practice is being normalized. We as martial arts school owners, Christian school owners, Christian, and Conservative parents must take a stand today against such practices. Remove your kids from the brainwashing of public schools, seeker friendly churches that look the other way in acceptance of this, and seek out mentors, churches, Martial arts academies, and schools that support biblical principles – no matter what the cost.

A good friend, police officer, fellow black belt of mine used to tell parents who would complain about the price of martial arts lessons that they could pay now or pay later. Meaning that they could pay to instill values now, or pay when these kids needed bail money, or could not get a job and stayed living with them in their 20’s and 30’s, or pay to get them into rehab. That statement is more true today than it was 30 years ago.

Covid and the Loss of Freedoms in Sports and at School

During this incredibly trying time with the pandemic, parents are really struggling to deal with the challenges that Covid and government guidelines have caused for their kids.

First, ALL people both big and small have been severely impacted by Covid. People have lost their jobs, gotten ill, suffer from depression and substance abuse, lost their homes and jobs, are forced to wear face suffocators in the most ridiculous scenarios, and comply with forced social shaming, and that is just the adults.

Our poor kiddos are experiencing a world of fear, social programming, stressed parents, and changes in school scheduling that is difficult. So what do we do as families? On one side you have science, beliefs, and politics that seem extremely convincing, and on the other side you have science, beliefs, and politics that seem extremely convincing. This is not the USA that I grew up in. Everything is so divided, and hate has become the norm. Will we ever go back to a country that can respect one another? I hope so.

But in the meantime, what options do we have for our children to keep them safe, as well as physically, mentally, morally, and spiritually prepared for whatever may come?

Martial arts is a phenomenal way to empower our kiddos during this dark time. It gives them a powerful outlet for pent up energy. A martial arts “outlet” takes that energy and guides it onto a path of personal development. Martial arts students become physically accomplished, mentally sharp, morally strong, and spiritually connected.

A martial arts school is one of the only places in society where we have people from all walks of life training together, making each other better, all with the same goals in common. In a world filled with hate, confusion, and misinformation, the martial arts school and the church seem to be two of the only places left with a positive message, solid moral teachings, and a place that hope and confidence can still be found.
